Parish Responses

For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation, Mission.

A two-year 'synodal' process is taking place in the Catholic Church from October 2021 that culminates in the final Synod Gathering of Bishops in Rome in October 2023. The overall theme is "For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation, Mission".

“For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation, Mission" (‘Synod’ - from a Greek word meaning ‘walking together’.)
This is the title of a two-year 'synodal' process taking place in the Catholic Church from October 2021, initiated by Pope Francis. It begins in the local church - every diocese in the world is asked to participate; and every one of us has the right to speak. It culminates in a final Gathering of Bishops in Rome in October 2023.
As soon as we have more details on how this is going to happen at the local level we will share this on the bulletin and here on our parish website. Our first task in the Parish of St Mary should be to pray for the pope’s intentions.
The process is based on listening to the People of God. To understand Pope Francis’ thinking on this an excellent start would be reading his latest small book : ‘A time to dream’.

CAFORD has released a video which enables us to understand why it is critical for all of us to participate, why now and what is means for our global Church. This video is free but does require you to register with a name and email address. The link can be found below.
